Week 5

 The Parental Conferences are almost over. All parents who turned up came in time. The class now has great balance with the additional two children that we got. With all due respect I thank all parents who are cooperative and teamwork with us teachers to help their children to focus in school. Many children have benefited positively with the teamwork. Continue to communicate by email whenever you are wondering about anything unclear.


Mathematics/ Natural Sciences


The Children got additional 80 minutes to cope with the Mathematics calculations. They are to have a test on Wednesday of week 6. We are still studying Astronomy. We will take a closer look at how the Earth tilts on its axis, solstices and Equinoxes etc. I am sure tthe children will enjoy it.

Cosmonova

Next week on the 4^th  February we will visit Naturhistoriska  museum and visit Cosmonova. We have been privileged to have the school pay for the entry to Cosmonova however due to pressure of time we will be compelled to request for packed lunch to all children in the 5^th grade.

Class Parents

Anna Sofi (Maya`s mum ) and Pia (Felix`s) mother agree to take the role of being class parents.

Veckan som gått har vi avslutat grammatikfilmerna. Vi har börjat nosa på nästa arbetsområde inom SO som är historia och denna gång reser vi till medeltiden. Se mail med bifogade planeringar för de nya arbetsområdena inom svenska och historia.

Week 4

The children have been great during the week. They have behaved well and worked very hard and a majority have handed in their assignments in time.  4-5 children are still dominant and take up so much space from other children who internalise their frustration since time is robbed of them when the few classmates spoil the study atmosphere. Many parents have been cooperative and helpful when they get information to talk to their children while some whose children continue to disturb the working environment take defensive positions. I will concentrate Parental Conference times mainly on discussing the formative assessment of the children and what can strengthen their academic work.  The meeting will centre on the learners self-assessment pinpointing mainly their strengths. The list for the times  have been updated.

We continue with studying Astrology, Rational Numbers , Literature ,  different genres of writing. Homework has been updated.

I torsdags var vi i Rikssalen på slottet och såg föreställningen ”Musiken som försvann”. Det var en härlig och förhoppningsvis ny upplevelse för de flesta. En del av skolans uppgift är ju att vidga elevernas värld och ge möjligheter till att prova på nya saker.

Veckan som gått har vi arbetat med de grammatikfilmer som klassen gör som en avslutning på vårt ordklassarbete. Vi har haft genomgång av grammatik- och geografiproven.

False Fire Alarm

Information om brandlarm

Idag gick brandlarmet på Johannes Skola för andra gången den här veckan. Precis som i måndags så var det ingen brand utan kopplat till dammutveckling i samband med renoveringsarbetena i källaren. Idag identifierades larmet på bara någon minut som ett falsklarm och utrymningen avbröts omedelbart. Vi har kallat till möte med ansvariga för vår fastighetsägare för att försöka säkerställa att det här inte blir ett återkommande problem för oss.

Collective Parents Meeting

Hej,

Vårens föräldramöte den 3/2 enligt kalendariet har blivit framflyttat till senare under terminen. Vi återkommer med ett datum.

Vårens föräldramöten är ju så kallade temamöten (förra året var temat läxor). I år kommer temat vara nätet och sociala medier.

En föreläsare kommer bjudas in till detta och det är anledningen till senarelagt datum.

Nu på torsdag den 21/1 ska vi på konsert på slottet på eftermiddagen (ingen matsäck). Konserten är mellan 14-15 och vi kommer eventuellt komma tillbaka till skolan lite senare än ordinarie sluttid (15.20). Om ditt barn vill/kan åka direkt hem från slottet vill jag att ni mailar mig eller Jacqueline och bekräftar att det är ok.

Week 3

 Dear Parents,

This week has been great. Almost all children accomplished the tasks they were to perform during lessons.  The homework assigned for this week has been issued (click on Homework on the blog). There will be a spelling test on Friday next week.

On the 21^st Of January grade 5`s are privileged to have the opportunity to watch a concert at the Royal Palace. We w leave school at 12:45 and be back by latest 16:00.

Individual Development Plan (IUP)

I wish to inform parents that the grade five teachers will conduct the Parental conferences (Utvecklingssamtal on Week 4). Grade 5B  IUP`s will be held  on Monday the 25th of January at the room for Technolgy on third floor and on Wednesday the 27th of January at the conference room on ground floor.   If the times do not work for you then you can always swop times with one another and effect the change with me by email. The parents who turned up for IUP for their children helped their children to focus positively at school.

The following list is a proposal for times allocated for every child.

I wish to clarify that the  class blog  will be more and more child centred.  This explains why there are many  educational links that have been support for the current lessons updated on the front page.
It is done deliberately to ease accessibility for the children who may require repetitions at home.

Welcome Back to School

School Starts on Monday the 11th January 2016. The students will follow the normal schedule. Ulla Johansson is back from sick leave and will continue to be the arts teacher. Louise who has been substituting for Ulla will continue to work mainly in the grade 5 classes.

A preliminary plan for the year will be made available on the blog most likely next week. The students will  start working with Rational Numbers which will cover four basic ways to approach Mathematics; Addition, Subtraction, Division and Multiplication. For Natural Sciences the students will  start with Physics (Astronomy).

The children will  read a science fiction book that will be relevant to their astronomical studies. Click in the title to download the book online. The Alien by Raymong F. Jones.

Many children would benefit from staying for homework assistance which is optional on Mondays from 15:20-16:00

I will update information as often as possible to keep you informed about what goes on at school.
