Winter Sports BreaK (Sportlov) and Week 10

 Winter Sports BreaK (Sportlov)
The winter sports break is on from today the 26th February. The children are to resume normal schedule as usual on the 7th  March 2016. On the 9th they will have a screening test in Mathematics and on the 10th they will visit “Medeltidens museet”. No packed lunch is required.

Språkval Choice for Grade 6
Hard copies of forms for application for språkval in grade six have been issued. The forms have to be handed in by  the 24th of March.

English  and Natural Sciences
We   have studied about satellites , what they are, their sources and uses. We have followed up  uses of the  American NAVSTAR GPS (Global Positioning Systems),  seen visually how it functions practically. We will wind up with astronomy and start studying about how the ear perceives sound.
This will involve the study of the ear anatomy as a prerequisite to studying Sound in Physics.
Homework
The children are preparing for a Screen test in Mathematics. They have no homework.
Update information will be given about the next book that the children will read.
Matematik

Under lovet: Läs, läs, läs!

Hälsningar

Week 7 and 8

The trip to Östermalm IP was a success. The children enjoyed and hoped to have a longer day. When we came back to school most of the children were exhausted.

The children are still working on fractions. There is emphasis on understanding the terminologies involved in both Swedish and English e.g numerator, denominator, simplest forms, improper fractions and to understand operations involving fractions. The children have been constructing their planets. The will have a presentation of their projects after the Spring Break.

Torsdag 25/2: Läsläxa i läsutmaningen, minst 3 gånger 15 minuter (fyll i läsprotokoll).

Week 6 and 7

The application form for remaining at After School Care (klubben) has been mailed to all parents. The children will go for skating at Östermalm IP on Thursday the 18th, between 9-13:00. We will be back to school and have lessons as usual after the event. Kindly remember to help the children take   packed lunch, water, their skates and helmets. They should dress appropriately for the weather. Extra socks and pants may be necessary.
Mathematics and Natural Sciences
The children have done the Mathematics test. The results so far are promising. They have started working on Fractions. They have looked closely at the atmosphere and identified some conditions from the troposphere to the exosphere. Next week they will complete their project about planets and start with the construction of planets. It will be difficult to construct the planets to their relative sizes, so we will improvise.  We plan to prepare children to train on areas that they need to remember for the Physics test.
Bild
SO/Svenska

Minutläxa, ”One minut of fame”

Trevlig helg!

Week 5 and 6

Cosmonova
The children visited Cosmonova and ”Naturhistoriska Museet”.The enormity of the screen and the intensity of the sounds to illustrate for example the “big bang” theory was uncomfortable for some children. The exhibitions in the Museum were fascinating to many children. When we came back the students were active in reflecting orally about the museum and in stating facts learnt
Test
The Mathematics involving the order of operations when adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing including negative numbers will be tested. The children should go through the goals on chapter one of Matheborgen again and see to that they can achieve them. Some questions will be quite challenging. Go through the challenging section of the book.
The children are to concentrate on preparing for the test. They have no homework.
Svenska: Läsläxa i läsutmaningen, minst 3 gånger 15 minuter (fyll i läsprotokoll OCH lämna in)
